JULIE BISHOP I am here in Townsville this morning with Ewen Jones, the LNP candidate for the seat of Herbert. It is important that we are out and about in the community in Northern Queensland to hear the concerns of people who feel dudded by the Rudd-and-Gillard or the Rudd-now-Gillard Government over a whole range of issues from health to small business to the question of asylum seekers. We are meeting with community people today, with businesses to hear their concerns and to get feedback from them.Radio 4TO FM, Minty's Morning with LNP candidate for Herbert Ewen Jones

JOURNALIST A lot of candidates have visited Mackay lately, how crucial is the Dawson seat?
JULIE BISHOP The whole state of Queensland is very important in this election and obviously we want to win the seat of Dawson. We’ve got a great candidate in George Christensen. He’s a local person, understands local issues and the concerns of local people and so it is an important seat for us to win.ABC NewsRadio with Marius Benson

MARIUS BENSON Julie Bishop, there are a lot of issue on the boil in both national politics and in foreign affairs. Can I begin by asking you about Fiji which has expelled Australia’s Acting High Commissioner, what are your thoughts on that?
JULIE BISHOP This is yet another sign that the regime in Fiji has no interest in providing stable or democratic government in that country. It is sad for the Fijian people who are being denied the right to vote for a government of their choice.2SM interview
