Mother’s Day Classic

On Mother’s Day last Sunday hundreds of Perth mothers skipped breakfast in bed and headed off to Lake Monger in Wembley to run or walk in the annual Mother’s Day Classic to help raise money for breast cancer research.

Battle of the Coral Sea

Western Australia today remembered the Battle of the Coral Sea in a commemoration service held at Fremantle War Memorial.

The Coral Sea lies off the coast of North Queensland and the battle was fought between 5 and 8 May 1942 – the largest naval encounter off our shoreline.

Subiaco v East Perth ANZAC Day match

The West Australian Football League (WAFL) paid tribute on the ANZAC public holiday at the Subiaco v East Perth match to the WAFL players who served in the Australian defence force.

In Gallipoli nine WAFL players were killed. A further 98 WAFL players have been casualties of war.
