I had the pleasure of meeting with representatives of a local not-for-profit organisation, Citizen Advocacy – Perth West, in my electorate office to discuss the work they are undertaking not only for Curtin residents, but people with intellectual disability or multiple disabilities.

On Mother’s Day last Sunday hundreds of Perth mothers skipped breakfast in bed and headed off to Lake Monger in Wembley to run or walk in the annual Mother’s Day Classic to help raise money for breast cancer research.

This week I met with the East Metropolitan Regional Council (EMRC) which has developed the Swan and Helena Rivers Management Framework which aims to ensure “the long term preservation of a river corridor for the benefit of the environment, users, managers, the local community and future generations.”
Battle of the Coral Sea

Western Australia today remembered the Battle of the Coral Sea in a commemoration service held at Fremantle War Memorial.
The Coral Sea lies off the coast of North Queensland and the battle was fought between 5 and 8 May 1942 – the largest naval encounter off our shoreline.Pelican Point victorious at Master Mariner’s competition

The Lions Club of Claremont-Nedlands held their monthly meeting at the Perth Flying Squadron on Tuesday and I attended as a member and the guest speaker.
Subiaco v East Perth ANZAC Day match

The West Australian Football League (WAFL) paid tribute on the ANZAC public holiday at the Subiaco v East Perth match to the WAFL players who served in the Australian defence force.
In Gallipoli nine WAFL players were killed. A further 98 WAFL players have been casualties of war.

ANZAC Day is a time to pay tribute to our defence forces as we honour those who have fallen protecting and serving our country.
It was touching to see thousands of Curtin residents attend local services this ANZAC Day recognising the ultimate sacrifice our troops, past and present, have made.
